He is the Acting President of the AJA (Asia Journalist Association). Ashraf Dali won the Manhae Prize in Literature 2014. Since 1989, when his first book of poetry was published, Ashraf Aboul-Yazid (Ashraf Dali) has been keen to introduce himself as a man of words. He won the Arab Journalism Award in Culture, in 2015, given by Dubai Press Club, UAE, for his work published in Al-Arabi magazine, The Art of Miniature in Literature, History and Myth.

Some of his literary works are translated into Spanish, Korean, Turkish, English and Persian. Selected poems were also translated into Russian, and Italian. He has published his travels to more than 33 countries in Al-Arabi magazine, and other cultural periodicals.
Ashraf Aboul Yazid has always been a favorite writer of Indian readers since the release of his Arabic novel “Hadiqatun Khalfiya” in 2011, portraying Indian culture and heritage. The novel was already translated into Malayalam as “Camelia”. It was also translated before into English by Haris Wafy. “Athurjuman” (novel), “31” (novel) and “Mukhtarath” ( poetry) are the major upcoming works intended to be translated into Malayalam. Young scholars Shihad Wafy, Faiz Wafy, Shafeeq Wafy and Shabir Wafy will work on these Malayalam translations. Athurjman depicts the ignited experiences of expatriates. Faiz Wafy would  translate “31” which stands out in Arabic literature with a very different style of writing. The main attraction of “31” is that the characters are all referred as numbers. “Mukhtarath” the arabic poetry is supposed to be translated by Shafiq Wafy and Shabir Wafy, twin brothers from Malappuram.

Advt.
