Mafias looking for new methods to get their hands on allopathy drugs

N.C. Shareef

Manjeri: With the increase in alopethic drug abuse among students, the health department has put restriction over the sale of certain drugs without proper prescription from a doctor or hospital. But this dosent stop the peddlers from getting their hands on alopethic drugs for their nrcotic business. Drug dealer have found their way around all the restrictions, presently government imposed over allopathy drug sale.
Medicines like M.D.M.A,Nitrasepam that are used in treatment of mentally challenged patients, are commonly used by drug dealers as narcotics. According to the reports released by the Excise based on their recent raids these drugs are commonly sold among students.

Some of the elusive methods used by the drug dealers is to register in hospitals and clinics to get a registration bill. They later visit stores to get medicines they need for the business by prescribing them in these bills they have acquired. Reports says that some stores are generous enough to sell restricted medicines at a higher price to those without prescription. Even though most of the hospitals are not aware of these activities they remain blind towards it. So is the government stumbling in the dark over this matter.

Lack of enough drug inspectors in every districts is one of the main reasons for these deals to get away with their tricks. Most districts have only drug inspectors less than five in total. And with this strength that have to manage all medical related legal works in their districts. Form granting and renewal of license to clearing court related matters they handle works of districts, each with more than 2000 medical stores, along with quality sample test of medicines.

There are no methods currently to cover the loopholes used by the drug mafia to get hold of narcotic drugs from government hospitals and stores. But Experts suggests that introducing methods like registration through adhaar in hospitals can be helpful.
